Just Another Shy Kid
Hi, Chris here. As a shy, completely overwhelmed kid growing up in Oregon, I retreated to the river pretty much on a daily basis. It was an after-school dose of meditation magic and solace. I've learned to adapt to many environments and situations in my life and career. But I've always come back to the river--a place to just be myself.

Foundation
So I grew up in rural Oregon and then went to the University of Oregon to study visual design, receiving a BFA in 1981, and an MFA in 1988. By 1990, I was busy helping out with animation projects in the emerging field of multimedia and computer graphics in Portland, Oregon. In 1997, I moved from Oregon to Las Vegas, Nevada to begin work in the gaming industry. Las Vegas, Baby In 1997, I got an art/design job in the casino game manufacturing industry. For the next 17 years, I worked in game development, marketing, and technical publications for gaming companies in Las Vegas. Self-Publishing Since 2015, I've focused on self-publishing. I published a couple of books about creative journaling under the Artist Kayak imprint, and several picture books for kids. In 2019, I began offering freelance illustration, design, and publishing services. I have helped more than fifty newbie authors publish their first picture book. |
